Chusquea magnifolia is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 20.5°C and precipitation of 1463 mm. Temperatures show relatively little seasonality (standard deviation ~54.7), varying from 26.1°C in the warmest month to 13.9°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~80.1). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~57.9), varying from 424 mm in the wettest month to 12 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 1133 mm) and driest (totaling 48 mm) quarters being 20.6°C and 19.9°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (26.7°C) and coolest (12.1°C) quarters being 432 mm and 134 mm, respectively.
