Colanthelia macrostachya is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 22.7°C and precipitation of 1162 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~224.3), varying from 30.7°C in the warmest month to 14.4°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~58.3). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~56.8), varying from 169 mm in the wettest month to 26 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 487 mm) and driest (totaling 97 mm) quarters being 25.2°C and 19.9°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (25.5°C) and coolest (19.9°C) quarters being 478 mm and 97 mm, respectively.
