Merostachys pilifera is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 17.9°C and precipitation of 1663 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~320.4), varying from 27.1°C in the warmest month to 8.5°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~54.4). Precipitation shows relatively little seasonality (coefficient of variation ~17.8), varying from 228 mm in the wettest month to 81 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 568 mm) and driest (totaling 293 mm) quarters being 17.2°C and 18°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (23.2°C) and coolest (12.8°C) quarters being 469 mm and 399 mm, respectively.
