Merostachys magellanica is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 21.5°C and precipitation of 1446 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~227.6), varying from 29.5°C in the warmest month to 11.4°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~63.6). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~62.7), varying from 318 mm in the wettest month to 12 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 948 mm) and driest (totaling 53 mm) quarters being 23.4°C and 18.6°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (24.9°C) and coolest (15.5°C) quarters being 613 mm and 153 mm, respectively.
