Merostachys exserta is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 19.4°C and precipitation of 1383 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~225.6), varying from 27.7°C in the warmest month to 9.4°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~62.6). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~71.3), varying from 293 mm in the wettest month to 12 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 799 mm) and driest (totaling 40 mm) quarters being 21.3°C and 16.5°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (25.8°C) and coolest (12.1°C) quarters being 543 mm and 90 mm, respectively.
