Merostachys argyronema is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 19.6°C and precipitation of 1910 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~241.8), varying from 27.1°C in the warmest month to 10.7°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~56). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~52.9), varying from 318 mm in the wettest month to 32 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 948 mm) and driest (totaling 119 mm) quarters being 22.4°C and 16.6°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (24.9°C) and coolest (15.3°C) quarters being 762 mm and 207 mm, respectively.
