Chusquea wilkesii is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 19.8°C and precipitation of 1611 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~240.1), varying from 28.1°C in the warmest month to 10°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~59.4). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~72), varying from 325 mm in the wettest month to 13 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 931 mm) and driest (totaling 46 mm) quarters being 22.1°C and 16.8°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (25.5°C) and coolest (13.5°C) quarters being 710 mm and 110 mm, respectively.
