Chusquea tessellata is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 20.1°C and precipitation of 2113 mm. Temperatures show relatively little seasonality (standard deviation ~46.6), varying from 26.2°C in the warmest month to 14.3°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~83.7). Precipitation shows moderate seasonality (coefficient of variation ~43.3), varying from 742 mm in the wettest month to 11 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 2156 mm) and driest (totaling 42 mm) quarters being 20°C and 20.1°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (28.4°C) and coolest (9.9°C) quarters being 450 mm and 634 mm, respectively.
