Chusquea tenuiglumis is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 19.1°C and precipitation of 1537 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~240.5), varying from 27.3°C in the warmest month to 8.9°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~61). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~62.7), varying from 336 mm in the wettest month to 11 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 972 mm) and driest (totaling 36 mm) quarters being 21.5°C and 16°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (24.6°C) and coolest (12.8°C) quarters being 606 mm and 136 mm, respectively.
