Chusquea fruticosa is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 19.7°C and precipitation of 1311 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~225.4), varying from 28.4°C in the warmest month to 8.9°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~63.8). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~73.8), varying from 246 mm in the wettest month to 15 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 670 mm) and driest (totaling 52 mm) quarters being 21.5°C and 16.6°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (23.7°C) and coolest (15.1°C) quarters being 501 mm and 66 mm, respectively.
