Chusquea attenuata is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 20.1°C and precipitation of 1374 mm. Temperatures show considerable seasonality (standard deviation ~212.2), varying from 27.8°C in the warmest month to 10.6°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~63.1). Precipitation shows considerable seasonality (coefficient of variation ~68), varying from 334 mm in the wettest month to 6 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 875 mm) and driest (totaling 21 mm) quarters being 22°C and 17.4°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (25.7°C) and coolest (12.4°C) quarters being 568 mm and 105 mm, respectively.
