Chusquea robusta is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 8.1°C and precipitation of 958 mm. Temperatures show relatively little seasonality (standard deviation ~49), varying from 14.1°C in the warmest month to 1.9°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~86.1). Precipitation shows relatively little seasonality (coefficient of variation ~21.8), varying from 118 mm in the wettest month to 37 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 329 mm) and driest (totaling 131 mm) quarters being 8.3°C and 8°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (9.8°C) and coolest (5.9°C) quarters being 212 mm and 222 mm, respectively.
