Chusquea subtessellata is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 21.1°C and precipitation of 2960 mm. Temperatures show relatively little seasonality (standard deviation ~56.9), varying from 26.9°C in the warmest month to 15.6°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~80.9). Precipitation shows moderate seasonality (coefficient of variation ~43.8), varying from 491 mm in the wettest month to 19 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 1291 mm) and driest (totaling 99 mm) quarters being 21°C and 21.2°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (27.2°C) and coolest (11.4°C) quarters being 639 mm and 735 mm, respectively.
