Athroostachys shepherdiana is known from localities with an annual mean temperature of 23.6°C and precipitation of 1304 mm. Temperatures show moderate seasonality (standard deviation ~183.9), varying from 30.9°C in the warmest month to 15.7°C in the coolest (isothermality ratio ~63.2). Precipitation shows moderate seasonality (coefficient of variation ~45.4), varying from 195 mm in the wettest month to 31 mm in the driest. The mean temperatures of the wettest (totaling 564 mm) and driest (totaling 111 mm) quarters being 24.7°C and 21.4°C, respectively, and the mean precipitation of the warmest (26.3°C) and coolest (20.3°C) quarters being 369 mm and 183 mm, respectively.
